When you launch your online store, one of the most important tasks is to drive traffic to it so you can start making sales. While you can promote your store on social media platforms, there is no denying it that you might wait a while before you see any results.
If you want to speed up the process, using Facebook Ads is a great way to start driving people to your store and watching the sales come in. In today’s post, I’ll share the top three benefits of Facebook ads, go over the steps to setup an ad, and show you everything you need to know about setting up Facebook Ads in my video tutorial where I walk you through the steps to set up your own ads.
Top Three Benefits of Facebook Ads
Facebook Ads have several benefits when it comes to marketing your store, products or services.
1. Facebook has the largest number of users out of all social media platforms
Facebook is the largest social media platform, boasting more than 2 billion active users. This means that no matter who you’re trying to target with your ads, chances are they are on Facebook.
2. Extensive Customization and Creative Control
Facebook Ads allow you to get really specific with the audience you’re trying to target. You can choose who sees your ads based on basic demographic data such as age, gender, and location. You can also target specific interests which means you can choose to display your ads to people who like certain brands or celebrities. Similarly, you can also choose to exclude people who use a particular product or follow a specific page.
3. Facebook Ads Allow You To Promote Your Store on Instagram
Facebook Ads are connected to Instagram Ads which means you can choose to display your ad on Instagram at the same time as you’re displaying it on Facebook. This allows you to reach an even bigger audience and is useful if you’re a part of a niche that’s popular on Facebook such as fitness or fashion.
Before You Get Started With Facebook Ads
Before you get started with Facebook Ads, there is one important step. You need to have a Facebook page for your store, otherwise, your ads won’t be approved. However, simply creating a Facebook page is not enough. In fact, you need to make sure your Facebook page accurately represents your brand and business. It also helps if people are engaging with your page, liking the content you post, and sharing it with their friends. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.
1. Fill out all the information
The most important advice is to fill out all the information about your business. This helps anyone who visits your page to get information about your business or store. It helps them understand better what you have to offer and it also helps Facebook recommend your page in their algorithm once you start running the ads. Don’t’ forget to include your business website so people can click over and check out your website when they visit your profile.
2. Upload a professional cover image
Once your information has been filled out, you need to upload a professional cover image. A professional cover image will help you make a great first impression as well as give page visitors a sense about your business, store or brand. You can use a website like Canva to quickly create a professional cover image for your Facebook page.
3. Upload a profile photo
You also need to upload a profile photo. If you’re an e-commerce store, I’d suggest uploading your store’s logo to build brand recognition. If you’re promoting a personal brand or if you’re the face of your company, consider using your photo.
4. Share your page with your networks
The last tip is to share your Facebook page with your network. Invite your friends and family to like your page and tell them you’re trying to start a business. You can also ask them to share the page with their friends and family. This will put your Facebook page in front of more people and potentially get you more likes that you don’t have to pay for later on.
How to Setup Your Facebook Ads
There are seven important steps that you need to follow when it comes to setting up your Facebook Ads. I’ll cover those steps briefly below and then go over them in more detail in the video tutorial.
1. Create a Strategy
Before you begin creating ads, you need to know what you want to promote, what the goal of the promotion is, and you need to have an idea of who would be interested in your product or service. It also helps if you can come up with main benefits of your product or service so you can use them in your ad copy and headline.
2. Choose Your Objective
Next, you want to choose the objective of your ads. You need to know whether you want to increase brand awareness, get more traffic to your website or get more conversions. Other objectives include getting more engagements, app installs, video views, and more. Choosing the right objective allows Facebook to optimize the placement of your ad so choose wisely.
3. Choose Your Audience
Once you have a strategy and an objective in mind, you need to flesh out your audience. You can start creating an audience from scratch based on interests and demographics you choose or you can use a custom audience that targets people who are on your email list or those who visit your website.
4. Choose Where The Ads Should Be Placed
You’ll also need to choose where the ads should be shown. This includes a variety of choices such as on the desktop, on mobile, on both desktop and mobile devices, Facebook only, Instagram and Facebook, and more.
5. Set Your Budget
Next, you will need to set a budget for your ads. Here, you will have two options. You can use a lifetime budget or a daily budget. No matter which option you choose, you can set your ads to run indefinitely or run for a certain number of days.
6. Choose The Ad Format
The second to last step is choosing the ad format for your ad. You can choose from single image ads, video ads, carousel ads, canvas ads, and collections. Each type of ads has its own set of pros and cons, however, video ads and carousel ads usually have the best results in terms of engagement and CTR rates.
7. Publish and Monitor Your Ads
Once your ad campaign is running, you want to keep a close eye on them to ensure your ad spend and cost per click aren’t going through the roof. You also want to make sure you’re ads are performing well so you’re not losing money.
